The Annual Toy & Food Drive
What it is
Every year, Ski’s Open Heart Foundation collects unwrapped toys, gift cards, and food for kids and families on Long Island. It continues something Mark started on his own, years before the foundation existed — driving toys to children at Stony Brook Hospital with his family. We’ve kept doing it every year since.
Everything collected is delivered by hand, by the family.
This year’s drive
We’re confirming this year’s dates and drop-off locations. For the most current information, call (631) 987-8847, email info@skisopenheart.com, or check our Facebook page.
How to help
Drop off unwrapped toys, gift cards, or non-perishable food, or call us to arrange a pickup.
What’s usually most needed:
- Toys for kids, newborn through age 15
- Gift cards for teens, ages 15–18
If you’d rather give money, donations are used to buy toys and gift cards directly.
Who it helps
Over the years, drive donations have gone to organizations including:
- Suburban Children’s Inc.
- American Legion Greenlawn Post 1244
- Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence
- The Retreat
- Tuesday’s Children
- Big Brothers Big Sisters
- Toys for Hope
- Cohen Children’s Medical Center
- Lighthouse Mission
- Brighter Tomorrows
- Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau
- Goodfellow’s Charity (Michigan)
We’ve also delivered directly to individual 9/11 families, veteran families, and veterans’ homes, depending on who needs it most that year.
